Relocating to Brooklyn, 77Klash continued his musical evolution by soaking up the hip hop and drum n bass scenes as well as the international grime movement. In 2005, he got his first big break when his Skallawa riddim was picked up by the dancehall artist Turbulence and turned into the song “Notorious.” Combining crunk hip hop with drum n bass, “Notorious” became an international sensation, reaching #1 on the Jamaican charts for 3 straight weeks and peaking at #2 on the UK’s BBC1 Extra before remaining in the top ten for an astounding 3 months.
In 2006, 77Klash flipped to MC mode, with a Team Shadetek produced underground hit, "Brooklyn Anthem", which went on to sell 2500 copies in 2 weeks, and landed a slot on DJ Green Lantern’s Hood Rules Apply mixtape.
"Code for the Streets", 77Klash's newest release, features production by Federation Sound, Matt Shadetek, and 77Klash himself, with guest spots by reggae dancehall legend Johnny Osbourne and Jahdan.
